Getting swings in over the winter: Hangar Golf Club helps pros, amateurs
FOX31 on February 13, 2024

It’s tough to beat the scenery on the Monterey Peninsula in California, but you don’t have to live vicariously through tour players to get a feel for what it’s like to tee it up at Pebble Beach.

And you can do it for a fraction of the price in Denver.

“When you’re able to play the same course that the pros are, it’s just cool to see people light up,” said Darren Schmidt, a founding partner of Hangar Club in Denver.

The new, 22,000-square-foot, indoor golf facility has 10 state-of-the-art Trackman simulator bays.

“Especially in the winter, there’s no better place and no better technology for your game,” said John Williams, University of Denver’s golf coach, while at the new club.

The coach says the opportunity to get in quality work will pay dividends down the road for his team.

“The game is changing,” Williams noted about the technology at Hangar. “It’s a lot better than what we’ve had in previous years and it’s helped us improve and keep our game sharp during the times when we have snow on the ground or can’t go out to the course. I think it’s going to help us a lot this spring and I think we’ll see some results.”
