Indoor Golf and Social Club Opens in Former Lowry Air Force Base

Mile High CRE on February 6, 2024

Hangar Club, Denver’s newest indoor golf and entertainment social club located at 7600 E. 1st Place in the historic Lowry neighborhood, marked its opening on Thursday, Feb. 1. Distinct in its offerings, the 22,000-square-foot venue is unlike any other indoor golf facility in Colorado, reminiscent of historic golf clubs but inviting and open to all.

Hangar Club features 10 industry-leading state-of-the-art Trackman simulators with the largest private hitting bays and seating areas found in Denver. Golfers can expect to play iconic courses like St Andrews and Pebble Beach or choose from 270+ other golf courses and 50+ tour venues. Hangar Club offers club fittings using the latest equipment from all major equipment manufacturers and golf instruction by PGA-certified teaching professionals to help golfers of all abilities improve their game.

Located in the heart of the former Lowry Air Force Base — adjacent to the Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum — the 22,000-square-foot repurposed hangar-like structure was built in 1942. Previously referred to as Building #376 (Armament Annex) and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, the building originally functioned as part of the armament school for the U.S. Army Air Corps and later the U.S. Air Force, the only of its kind in the western United States. It trained thousands of armorers and bombardiers during World War II and the Korean War, including training on the Sperry bombsight and the top secret Norden bombsight, a key technology for winning the war.

“The building is an iconic structure dating back to World War II and its scale, open layout and natural light provided the perfect space for what we envisioned Hangar Club to be, a premier indoor golf and entertainment venue unlike any other indoor golf facility in Colorado,” said Daren Schmidt, veteran real estate developer and founding partner of Hangar Club. “Our team was deliberate in repurposing and preserving the exterior and interior features of the building, including the expansive steel beams and windows used in the building’s original construction,” added Schmidt.

Hangar Club features a central bar with an extensive list of craft cocktails, local beer and wine, and a menu curated by founding partner and restaurateur James Samara. Perfect for corporate events and social gatherings, Hangar Club can utilize its 22,000 square feet of flexible space and private and open lounges to accommodate groups of 10 to 400 people.

From avid golfers looking to perfect their skills to executives who want a different way to conduct business, Hangar Club combines work and play to provide an elevated experience and best-in-class service to all who walk through its doors.
